چکیده

We address the state estimation of a class of continuous-time systems with implicit outputs, whose measurements arrive at discrete-time instants, are time-delayed, noisy, and may not be complete. The estimation problem is formulated in the deterministic H∞ filtering setting by computing the value of the state that minimizes the induced L2-gain from disturbances and noise to estimation error, while remaining compatible with the past observations. To avoid weighting the distant past as much as the present, a forgetting factor is also introduced. We show that, under appropriate observability assumptions, the optimal estimate converges globally asymptotically to the true value of the state in the absence of noise and disturbance. In the presence of noise, the estimate converges to a neighborhood of the true value of the state. The estimation of position and attitude of an autonomous robotic vehicle using measurements from an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a monocular charged-coupled-device (CCD) camera attached to the vehicle illustrates these results. In the context of this application, the robust H∞ estimator can deal directly with the usual problems associated with vision systems such as noise, latency and intermittency of observations. We present and discuss several simulation results that demonstrate and validate the good performance and applicability of the proposed estimator.

H∞ ESTIMATION OF SYSTEMS WITH IMPLICIT OUTPUTS An application to Pose Estimation of Autonomous Vehicles

This paper addresses the problem of nonlinear filter design to estimate the relative position and attitude of an autonomous vehicle with respect to a desired coordinate system defined by visual landmarks using measurements from an inertial measurement unit (IMU) and a monocular charged-coupled-device (CCD) camera mounted on-board. We formulate the problem in the framework of state estimation of...

Eigenvalue Assignment Of Discrete-Time Linear Systems With State And Input Time-Delays

Time-delays are important components of many dynamical systems that describe coupling or interconnection between dynamics, propagation or transport phenomena, and heredity and competition in population dynamics. The stabilization with time delay in observation or control represents difficult mathematical challenges in the control of distributed parameter systems. It is well-known that the stabi...

Line of Sight (LOS) rate estimation in strap down seekers using discrete-time extended state observer.

The line of sight (LOS) rate is a parameter that is needed to calculate the acceleration applied to missiles by the proportional guidance laws in order to hit the target. This rate is usually measured using gimbaled seekers. However, if the type of missile seeker be strap down, the LOS rate must be calculated from deriving the missile's seeker output angles or estimation methodes. The derivatio...

Cardiac Motion Recovery: Continuous Dynamics, Discrete Measurements, and Optimal Estimation

A sampled-data filtering framework is presented for cardiac motion recovery from periodic medical image sequences. Cardiac dynamics is a continuously evolving physiological process, whereas the imaging data can provide only sampled measurements at discrete time instants. Stochastic multi-frame filtering frameworks are constructed to couple the continuous cardiac dynamics with the discrete measu...

Real Time Calibration of Strap-down Three-Axis-Magnetometer for Attitude Estimation

Three-axis-magnetometers (TAMs) are widely utilized as a key component of attitude determination subsystems and as such are considered the corner stone of navigation for low Earth orbiting (LEO) space systems. Precise geomagnetic-based navigation demands accurate calibration of the magnetometers. In this regard, a complete online calibration process of TAM is developed in the current research t...
